abstract Provided are 2-pentafluorosulfanylnaphthalene, substituted derivatives thereof, and production methods thereof useful for introducing fluorine. 1,4-Dihydronaphthalene was reacted with pentafluorosulfanyl halide using a three-step process. The resulting 3-halo-2-pentafluorosulfanylnaphthalene or derivative is then converted to 2-pentafluorosulfanyl-1,4-dihydronaphthalene or derivative by base treatment, followed by removal of the hydrogen atom.
