An object of the present invention is to provide a thin retardation film having high transparency and small variation in retardation value in the film plane. Moreover, the manufacturing method of the retardation film excellent in productivity which does not require extremely high coating precision is provided. A retardation film obtained by aligning and curing a liquid crystalline composition containing a polymerizable compound represented by the following general formula (1) and a liquid crystalline compound.
