abstract | The present invention provides a thickener or thixotropy-imparting agent used in an organic solvent-based coating composition that has excellent coating properties and can form a film with high surface uniformity. An organic solvent-based thickener and a thixotropic agent containing a polymer having a partial structure represented by the general formula (1) at the terminal of a repeating unit. In the formula, R represents an alkyl group substituted with at least 8 fluorine atoms having 4 or more carbon atoms, Z represents a (t + 1) -valent linking group, and # represents a position linked to a repeating unit of the polymer. t is an integer from 2 to 6.
