abstract The present invention provides a fuel containing a low pollutant and suitable for use in a direct organic liquid feed fuel cell. The present invention is a low-pollutant formic acid fuel for use in a direct organic liquid feed fuel cell, wherein the fuel according to the present invention is maintained for a substantial time. And the fuel is substantially non-flammable. Certain contaminants and their degree of contamination are known to be detrimental to the performance of formic acid fuels in fuel cells, and embodiments of the present invention have known commercial scale quality and are commercially available. The present invention provides a low pollutant-containing formic acid fuel having improved performance compared to a formic acid fuel having a refined quality. Examples of preferred fuels are those containing low levels of major contaminants including acetic acid, methyl formate and methanol. [Selection] Figure 1
