The present invention provides a need for rheology modified polymers having good stability and advantageous rheological properties at high pH. Has a pH of A at least 10, and (meth) acrylic acid residue 2.5% to 65%, and 10% to 80% (meth) acrylic acid (C 2 -C 4) alkyl residue 0.1% of at least one crosslinked copolymer consisting of 2% to 25% of a lipophilic modified (meth) acrylate residue and a residue of a crosslinking agent having no ester or amide functionality An aqueous composition containing -5%.
