abstract Provided is a simple detection medium that enables detection of lactic acid bacteria from a sample containing lactic acid bacteria and bacteria other than lactic acid bacteria by suppressing or reducing the growth of bacteria other than lactic acid bacteria. A medium for selectively culturing lactic acid bacteria, comprising an antifungal agent of a polyene antibiotic, a polypeptide antibiotic and an azide of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. Furthermore, the culture medium which can detect presence of lactic acid bacteria containing glucose, bromocresol purple, or calcium carbonate powder. [Selection figure] None
