abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device in which a colored pattern having an OD value of 2 or more is formed on at least one substrate via a dummy electrode pattern to improve adhesion at the substrate interface. One or more types of image display media are sealed between two opposing substrates, at least one of which is transparent, and the image display media is moved by an electric field generated in the substrate to display an image. In an image display device including a plate, at least one of the substrates 1, a position directly below the partition wall 13 corresponding to a boundary between pixels in the region 11 in the display area and a dot spacer in the region 14 outside the display area. The dummy electrode patterns 12-3 and 17 are formed immediately below the black electrode 16 and the black matrix 16 which is a colored pattern having an OD value of 2 or more is formed on the dummy electrode pattern, thereby improving the adhesion of the black matrix 16.
