titleOfInvention | Method for producing novolac type phenolic resin |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for advantageously producing a novolak type phenol resin in which a non-reacted aldehyde substantially does not remain while preventing generation of higher-order condensate using a continuous reaction apparatus in a short time. thing. SOLUTION: A continuous reaction apparatus 10 having a longitudinal reaction tube 12 is used to react phenols and aldehydes in the presence of an acidic catalyst to continuously produce a novolak type phenol resin. A heating zone 26 and a temperature control zone 32 are provided in the longitudinal direction of the pipe 12, and the heating zone 26 located upstream in the liquid flow direction is heated above the temperature at which reaction heat is generated. As a result, the pressure in the reaction tube 12 is increased so as to be equal to or higher than the water vapor pressure while performing a cooling operation in the temperature control zone 32 located on the downstream side with respect to the mixed liquid whose temperature has been increased, so that the novolak type A phenolic resin was produced.
