abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst capable of preventing ceria sintering and maintaining good catalytic performance, and a method for producing the same. An exhaust gas purification catalyst comprising ceria, platinum and NO x storage material supported on a porous metal oxide and having a relatively large surface area after durability. Moreover, it is an exhaust gas purification catalyst carrying ceria and a noble metal on a porous metal oxide, wherein the ceria has an average primary particle diameter of 12 nm or less. The method further includes aggregating the ceria precursor from the cerium salt using urea, or aggregating the ceria precursor from the hydrolyzable compound of cerium. [Selection] Figure 1
