A thermoelectric conversion element and a thermoelectric conversion module having high conversion efficiency necessary for realizing thermoelectric power generation and excellent in thermal stability, chemical durability and the like are provided. A conductive substrate, a specific p-type thermoelectric conversion material formed on the substrate via a conductive thermal buffer material, and formed on the substrate via a conductive thermal buffer material. A thermoelectric conversion element comprising a specific n-type thermoelectric conversion material, wherein the conductive thermal buffer material is made of a conductive material having a coefficient of thermal expansion between the thermoelectric conversion material to be bonded and the substrate.
