abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED To obtain a change in octane number of a mixture in a combustion chamber by purge mixture from a plurality of canisters adsorbing fuel vapors having different properties. A purge mixture is supplied to an engine 100 from a high-octane gasoline canister 250H and a low-octane gasoline canister 250L. The electronic control unit (ECU) 30 performs air-fuel ratio feedback control based on the output of the air-fuel ratio sensor 31. The purge control valves 253H and 253L of each canister are sequentially opened one by one, and the fuel vapor concentration in the purge mixture from each canister is calculated based on the change in the learning correction coefficient value of the air-fuel ratio feedback control. At the same time, the amount of each fuel vapor supplied to the combustion chamber during the purge is calculated, and the actual octane number of the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber is calculated.
