PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of producing 1,3-cyclohexanediol having a high cis isomer content. When producing 1,3-cyclohexanediol by hydrogenating resorcin in the presence of a base metal catalyst, the hydrogenation reaction is carried out by at least one metal selected from the group consisting of alkali metal compounds and alkaline earth metal compounds. A process for producing 1,3-cyclohexanediol, which is carried out in the presence of a compound. |
