titleOfInvention | Image forming apparatus |
abstract | The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus that ensures safety by stopping energization to a heater when an abnormally high temperature occurs in a fixing heater. A fixing heater driving unit 1 uses a fixing roller heated by a radiant heater 8 to heat and fix a sheet on which a developer has been transferred to a temperature detected by a fixing roller temperature detection circuit 10 of the fixing unit. When the temperature detection circuit 10 detects a predetermined abnormal high temperature when the heater temperature control unit lock 32 controls the DC power supplied from the boost chopper circuit 7 to the radiation heater 8, the high temperature detection circuit 12 abnormally stops. A signal is generated to stop the supply of DC power from the boost chopper circuit 7 to the radiant heater 8. Therefore, when an abnormally high temperature is detected, the driving of the radiant heater 8 is stopped in a hardware manner, so that a fire or the like can be prevented and safety can be ensured even in the case of malfunction or erroneous detection.
