abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct type backlight using a reflective polarizer and having improved light use efficiency. A lenticular lens array having a plurality of parallel ridge lines is arranged on one side of a linear light source, and a transmittance incident angle dependent optical element is further arranged thereon, and a lenticular lens. The ridge line of the array is arranged substantially parallel to the major axis of the linear light source, and the other one side has a ridge line and a repetitive inclined structure, and the ridge line of the reflective plate and the linear light source A direct type backlight characterized by being arranged so that the major axis is substantially orthogonal.
