abstract | The present invention provides a highly pure carboxymethylcellulose salt with a low content of by-products produced during the production of the carboxymethylcellulose salt and a method for producing the same. A carboxymethyl cellulose salt having an inorganic salt and glycolate content of less than 1% by weight. By irradiating the carboxymethylcellulose salt containing the inorganic salt and glycolate, which are by-produced during the reaction, and the organic solvent, and removing the salt from the carboxymethylcellulose salt, the salt content is less than 1% by weight.
