abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and excellent method for producing a color filter used in a color display device such as a high resolution liquid crystal display device. A resin layer forming step for forming a photosensitive resin layer on a substrate via an electrode layer, and a selective exposure step for selectively exposing a part of the photosensitive resin layer according to a predetermined pattern are obtained. The photosensitive resin layer is immersed in an electrodepositable solution containing at least one dye or pigment and electrodeposited to deposit a first colored pattern on the exposed portion in the exposure step. By selectively exposing a part of the photosensitive resin layer according to a predetermined pattern to an unexposed portion in the electrodeposition step and the exposure step, and then electrodepositing in the same manner as in the electrodeposition step.
