titleOfInvention Curtain coater
abstract [PROBLEMS] To improve the durability of a scraper in a curtain coater. A curtain coater for coating a moving material web, such as paper or paperboard, with a coating agent, wherein an applicator is disposed above the material web having an upper surface, the web being against the curtain coater. The web is arranged such that the coating agent is supplied on the surface in a curtain-like flow. The curtain coater comprises a scraper having a scraping surface that engages the top surface of the web to remove an air boundary layer on the surface of the web. The durability of the scraper scraping surface is increased by constructing the scraper with a material that is surface hardened or provided with a durability enhancing coating layer or a hard wear resistant material.
