Hemostatic composition and hemostatic device |
abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more easily absorb an aqueous liquid and, as a result, eliminate the need for mixing to form a flowable hemostatic slurry and / or be placed on a body part of a mammal in need of hemostasis Provide a plurality of dense particles and compositions that more easily absorb physiological fluids. The dense particles according to the present invention, when placed in contact with a physiological fluid or an aqueous medium, improve the absorbability of these liquids compared to a plurality of non-compact particles made of the same material. It has a crevice void having a void volume and a median void diameter effective. The particles are made from a biocompatible material and a hemostatic agent and have an average diameter suitable for use in hemostasis of mammalian body parts in need of hemostasis. The hemostatic composition according to the present invention comprises a plurality of such particles. Also provided are methods of making such particles and compositions, and medical devices suitable for delivering a plurality of particles and / or compositions for hemostasis to body parts.
