abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color filter manufacturing method capable of easily obtaining a color filter at low cost. The method includes a step of applying a surface treatment agent containing a photodegradable compound of the following formula (1) to an exposed portion of a light shielding layer and a substrate. In the above formula (1), R 1 is a hydrocarbon group or hydrogen atom having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, X is —Cl, —Br, —I, —OR 3 , —OR 3 , —NCO or —NH 2. Any one selected from the group, R 3 is a hydrocarbon group or hydrogen atom having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, n is any integer of 0 to 2, M is any selected from the group consisting of Si, Ti, Zr R 2 is an optionally substituted divalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, Y is —COO— or —O—, and Z is the formula (2) or the formula ( It is a substituent of 3).
