titleOfInvention | Plastic optical fiber preform and manufacturing method thereof |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress bubbles in a preform and POF and reduce a production loss. A raw material for an inner core is injected into a clad having an outer core formed on the inner surface, and the clad is set in a rotation polymerization apparatus 35 so that the circular tube axis is substantially horizontal. While the polymerization vessel body 44a is rotated, the reaction between the inner core monomer and the outer core and the polymerization reaction of the monomer are performed. At least one of the initial and middle stages of the polymerization reaction is pressurized, and at least one of the latter and after the polymerization reaction is depressurized. The pressurization amount P1 and the depressurization amount P2 at the time of pressurization and decompression are set to 0 <P1 <1 × 10 3 and 0 <P2 <0.99 × 10 2 , respectively. The plastic optical fiber preform obtained in this way is filled with a core in the clad, does not generate bubbles, and can be made into a plastic optical fiber by stretching. The resulting optical fiber has good transmission characteristics. [Selection] Figure 9 |
