abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a biaxial retardation film having a refractive index in the film normal direction larger than the minimum value of the refractive index in the film plane at a low cost. It is an object to provide a method for producing a retardation film that is suitable for producing a retardation film having a large area. A thermoplastic polymer film having a relationship of nz> nx≈ny is stretched with respect to refractive indices nx and ny in the in-plane direction and main refractive index nz in the thickness direction, and the refractive index is nx>nz> ny. According to the retardation film production method, a retardation film having the following relationship is obtained. As said thermoplastic polymer film, what comprises the polyimide which has a structure represented by following General formula (1) can be used conveniently. [Chemical 1] [Selection figure] None |
