abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent fogging, poor gradation, and insufficient sensitivity in image characteristics after coating without lowering the storage stability of a coating solution or a heat-developable photosensitive material when used in a heat-developable photosensitive material. An object of the present invention is to provide a binder resin for heat developable photosensitive material and a heat developable photosensitive material. A polyvinyl acetal resin for a heat-developable photosensitive material used as a binder resin for a photosensitive layer of a heat-developable photosensitive material, comprising a structural unit represented by the following general formula (1): A polyvinyl acetal resin for heat-developable photosensitive material, characterized in that the amount of residual acetyl groups is 25 mol% or less, the amount of residual hydroxyl groups is 17 to 35 mol%, and the degree of polymerization is 200 to 3000.
