titleOfInvention Thermal transfer recording system with an amorphous dye phase.
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new thermal transfer recording system. [Solution] Described is a thermal recording system utilizing a donor element comprising a substrate and a thermal transfer material layer having a dye-containing phase that is amorphous and present in the amorphous phase and the dye or dyes form a continuous film. ing. By heating the medium, a portion of the transfer layer is imagewise transferred to the receiver sheet, thus forming an image. The transfer layer also includes a non-dye phase that includes a thermal solvent. During the heating of the donor element, the crystalline thermosensitive solvent melts to dissolve or liquefy at least a portion of the dye-containing phase, thereby reducing the temperature at which transfer of the transfer layer occurs.
