abstract The present invention generally relates to a guidewire with a high level of torque, flexibility and elasticity. In one embodiment, the guidewire includes an elongated shaft (10) having a constant outer diameter. The shaft includes a filler (18) and a polymer matrix (20), the filler includes a plurality of wires (22), the matrix substantially surrounding the filler, and the outer diameter of the shaft is a lumen of an intravascular catheter. The dimensions are suitable for being placed inside.
