A coating composition in both an uncrosslinked form and a crosslinked form for use to increase static friction of the surface of the delivery system, the medical system comprising a medical device having a surface in contact with the surface of the delivery element; Static friction on the surface of the delivery element substantially maintains the position of the medical device on the delivery element against the force applied to the delivery system as the delivery system navigates through a body conduit. Is increased in a sufficient amount. The delivery system can include a balloon catheter as a delivery element and a stent as a medical device. The composition comprises a polyether monomer such as alkoxy poly (alkylene glycol), a carboxylic acid containing monomer such as (meth) acrylic acid, optionally a photoderivatized monomer, and a hydrophilic monomer such as (meth) acrylamide. |
