titleOfInvention | Methods for the development of animal models |
abstract | The present invention relates to a method for the development of mutant animals (including genetically modified animals and animals having random mutations) as human disease models. In particular, the present invention provides integrated technologies (including in-depth specifications and quality control) for the development of animal models that can serve as survival assay systems useful in biomedical research and in the development of human therapeutics. The present application provides a method of establishing a mutant animal system. The method comprises: (a) inducing superovulation in a sexually immature mutant founder (G0); (b) fertilizing this superovulated sexually immature mutant founder; (c) pregnancy. Delivering a first generation mutant animal (F1) upon completion of the phase; (d) confirming the identity of the mutation's stability, genotype, and genetic background in the first generation mutant animal; And optionally, (e) repeating steps (a) to (d) using one or more additional generations of mutant animals. |
