titleOfInvention | Method for producing metal articles without melting |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a metal article without melting. A metal article (20) comprising a metal component element is produced from a mixture of non-metal precursor compounds of the metal component element. Without melting the initial metallic material, the mixture of non-metallic precursor compounds is chemically reduced to produce the initial metallic material. The initial metal consolidation step may be performed with a feasible technique without melting of the initial metal material or melting of the consolidated metal article (20). Preferred techniques include hot isostatic pressing of the initial metal material, forging, pressure forming and sintering, and container extrusion. The material is consolidated to produce a consolidated metal article (20). Consolidation is preferably performed by hot isostatic pressing of the initial metal material, forging, pressure forming and sintering, container extrusion, and the like. |
