The use of corticotroph-derived glycoprotein hormone (CGH) to enhance glucocorticoid action and reduce glucocorticoid-induced adrenocortical inhibition is described. CGH can be co-administered with glucocorticoids to allow for low doses of glucocorticoids used and to prevent or reduce glucocorticoid-induced side effects. Furthermore, the present invention provides methods of using CGH as a glucocorticoid substitute or a method for treating a wide range of inflammatory conditions. Further provided is a method of purifying recombinant CGH. |
