abstract | A method for preparing a metal mesoporphyrin halide compound will be described. Metal mesoporphyrin halide compounds can be made by forming novel mesoporphyrin IX intermediate compounds and then converting the mesoporphyrin IX intermediate to metal mesoporphyrin halides by metal insertion. Novel intermediate compounds can be made by catalytic hydrogenation of hemin in acid and subsequent recovery. |
