titleOfInvention | Reference markers for MRI |
abstract | The reference marker (50) is arranged in the imaging region (14) together with the subject. The reference marker is attached to the subject himself, to the surgical tool (52), to the imaging probe, to the receiving coil (80) or the like. The fiducial marker is filled with a liquid or gel of fluorine 19 (Fl 19 ) compound having a resonance frequency that is only 6% off the proton resonance frequency. This allows a common transmitter (22), transmit and receive coil, and receiver (34) to be used for both proton and fluorine 19 imaging. Proton and fluorine resonance signals are reconstructed separately in the corresponding image memory (42, 64). From the position of the fiducial marker, the position calculator (66) determines the position of the fiducial marker that indicates the surgical tool or probe relative to the proton image. The tool or probe description from the lookup table (70) is appropriately positioned and rotated (68) and overlaid on the proton image by the video processor (44). |
