Use of phospholipids in peritoneal dialysis |
abstract |
A composition containing at least one surface-active phospholipid (SAPL) is administered intraperitoneally before starting CAPD or between CAPD sessions, in powder form, especially as a mixture of phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylglycerol This improves the efficiency of ultrafiltration in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). The SAPL composition may be applied during surgery to prepare a patient for CAPD and / or after passing through an incision for a CAPD catheter or before removing a batch of dialysate and supplying a fresh batch. It can be introduced through the catheter itself between CAPD sessions. |
