A tissue graft composition for use in repairing a diseased or damaged tissue is provided. The tissue graft composition comprises a bladder submucosa and stomach submucosa, and a matrix composition selected from the group consisting of extracts and hydrolysates thereof, additional endothelial cells, blood vessel-like in the graft composition. Including at least one preselected additional exogenous cell population that enhances the initiation of structure formation. The preselected cell population may be a non-keratinized epithelial cell population or a keratinized epithelial cell population, or a fibroblast, smooth muscle cell, skeletal muscle cell, cardiomyocyte, pluripotent progenitor cell It may be a mesoderm-derived cell population selected from the group consisting of pericytes, osteogenic cells or other suitable cell types, but is preferably selected based on the tissue to be repaired. Also provided are methods for promoting angiogenesis of these tissue graft compositions in vivo and methods for preparing these graft compositions. |
