titleOfInvention | Dispenser for twin patient infusion device |
abstract | The present invention relates to an apparatus for delivering a fluid, such as insulin, to a patient. The apparatus includes an outlet assembly and a reservoir including a sidewall extending toward the outlet connected to the outlet assembly. A threaded lead screw is received in the reservoir, and the plunger has an outer peripheral surface that is linearly slidable along the side wall of the reservoir and an inner peripheral surface that is received by the lead screw. The plunger does not rotate relative to the side wall and rotation of the lead screw advances the plunger within the reservoir and pushes fluid out of the outlet. The apparatus also includes a rotating element and a shape memory element for rotating the lead screw. A variable length shape memory element that reduces from an uncharged length to a charged length resets the rotating element. |
