An oxidation reaction comprising electrochemically receiving electrons from a carbon-containing compound by an external electrical circuit mediated by light-excited photosensitizer molecules, oxidation-reduction mediators, catalytic enzymes; Due to the reduction reaction, an electromotive force is generated across the positive electrode (24) and the negative electrode (23).
