abstract | An improved apparatus and method for interfacing a time-varying waveform between two hardware environments. In one aspect, the present invention accurately simulates the output of one or more types of sensing devices (eg, passive bridge pressure transducers) for use in a plurality of different monitoring and / or analysis devices. Eliminates the need for specialized interface circuitry adapted to each different monitoring device / analyzer. In another embodiment, the sensing device includes a non-invasive blood pressure monitor (NIBPM), which generically interfaces with a prior art patient monitor (806) via the interface circuit (800) of the present invention. As a second aspect of the present invention, an improved NIBPM device incorporating an interface circuit is disclosed. An improved disconnect (disconnect) circuit adapted to detect the state of the electrical connection between the sensing device and the monitor is also disclosed. |
