| abstract |
The present invention relates to an illumination source for an LCOS projection system. This illumination source is a CRT that excites an array of phosphor-based resonant microcavities (105). A CRT can be designed to exclusively generate light of a selected color by selecting a uniform phosphor type for use in an array of resonant microcavities. Resonant microcavities can be arranged so that light passes through the LCOS device (212) and generates an image. A projection lens (216) can also be provided to enlarge and image the image for projection onto the screen. |
