titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for measuring the intensity distribution of a radiation field
abstract The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for measuring the intensity distribution of a radiation field (23). In this method, ionization induced by the radiation field (23) is detected by parallel ionization detector planes (11.1, 11.2) arranged in the ionization chamber (10). Two of those ionization detector planes (11.1, 11.2) are formed by a series of wire arrays (14.1, 14.2) that measure the X and Y position of the ionization event. Thus, the two detector planes (11.1, 11.2) indicate the X and Y coordinates X 1 , Y 1 of the ionization event. The ionization event is triggered via photonuclear reaction products resulting from the radiation (23).
