abstract 2-Amino-9- [2- [bis (2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy) phosphonylmethoxy] ethyl] -6- () for oral administration to treat hepatitis B virus infection in infected patients A pharmaceutically acceptable composition comprising 4-methoxyphenylthio) purine (LY582563) is provided. The composition is in unit dosage form containing from about 2.5 to about 20 mg of the purine per unit dose. The composition is adapted for oral administration and is preferably in the form of a tablet or capsule and can be administered in single or multiple doses. However, the total daily dose of the purine is about 2.5 mg to about 20 mg per patient per day. These compositions are particularly advantageous for lowering plasma HBV DNA levels in human patients with chronic HBV infection or ameliorating symptoms, conditions, or disorders caused by hepatitis B virus.
