The invention features a method of diagnosing or providing a prognosis for an Alzheimer's disease state in a mammal by contacting a visual tissue with a detectably labeled compound that binds to amyloid protein. Increased binding of the compound compared to the normal control binding level indicates that the mammal is suffering from or at risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. |
