abstract The antibodies of the present invention interact with human DR5 or human DR4 and produce agonistic or antagonistic actions (including cell proliferation and apoptosis) downstream of the receptor. The nucleic acid and amino acid sequences of the DR5 and DR4 antibodies were elucidated, and vectors and cells containing and expressing these sequences were made. Methods and uses for the antibodies are detailed, including treatment of apoptosis related diseases and treatment of cell growth dysregulation. The provided method is the induction of apoptosis in the target cell and the inhibition of the growth of the target cell by contacting the cell with an antibody capable of binding to a therapeutic amount of DR5 or DR4. In various embodiments of this method, apoptosis can be induced or cell proliferation can be inhibited by contacting both antibodies with target cells.
