titleOfInvention Flow and pressure sensors for bad fluids
abstract Disclosed are methods and systems for preventing degradation of sensors exposed to bad fluids, such as corrosive fluids, or fluids exposed to radioactive contamination, live pathogens, freezing temperatures, overheating, particle deposition or condensable vapors. The An auxiliary purge flow of relatively clean fluid or purge fluid is utilized. This auxiliary purge flow passes through the sensor in opposition to the bad fluid, thereby preventing contact between the bad fluid and the sensor and thus preventing deterioration of the sensor. The clean fluid itself consists of a purge gas or liquid such as clean and dry air that is compatible with the composition of the bad fluid. The flow rate and pressure of the cleaning fluid can be adjusted utilizing one or more supply regulator valves.
