titleOfInvention | Immobilization of biological molecules |
abstract | The present invention provides a system for immobilizing biological molecules to a solid support having available amino groups using two steps. In the first step, a nucleophilic substitution reaction occurs such that the available amino group displaces the first leaving group of the activating compound to form an activated support. In the second step, the activated support reacts with a biological molecule to produce a compound of formula (I): In formula (I), S is a solid support and X is preferably selected from the group consisting of the following formulas (i), (ii), (iii) and (iv), wherein R is about Selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups, allyl groups and OR 1 having 18 or fewer carbon atoms, R 1 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups and allyl groups having about 18 or fewer carbon atoms; X 1 is selected from the group consisting of NH, oxygen and sulfur, and B is a biological molecule. |
