titleOfInvention | Lens coating to reduce outside haze in scope lenses |
abstract | A coated lens (1) is provided for use in rifle scopes, telescopes, impact orientation mirrors, binoculars and the like. The coating on the lens is disposed on two layers, an antireflection layer (18) consisting of a plurality of sublayers (21-24) proximate to the lens outer surface (10), and an antireflection layer (18). A layer structure (15) including a hydrophobic layer (19). The hydrophobic layer preferably contains an organosilane compound. The coating is advantageous because it does not substantially reduce the transmission of light through the lens. |
