titleOfInvention Apparatus and method for compressing body tissue
abstract Disclosed are systems and methods for delivering a surgical clip to a surgical site within a patient to compress body tissue. In one embodiment of the system of the present invention, the system includes an endoscopic device having an endoscopic cap disposed at a distal end of the endoscopic device. The surgical clip is removably disposed on the outer surface of the endoscope cap. A placement device is coupled with the surgical clip to place the surgical clip from the endoscope cap into the body tissue to be compressed. The surgical clip can be a deformable clip that is placed in an undeformed form and then deformed to apply pressure to selected tissue. The surgical clip can be a multi-leg clip having a plurality of legs that can be locked in a closed position to apply pressure to body tissue.
