Articles having surface amphiphilic polymers and biocidal surfaces made therefrom are disclosed. The polymer can inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the area in contact with the surface or adjacent to the biocidal surface. Also disclosed are methods for identifying and optimizing the surface amphiphilicity of polyamides, polyesters, polyureas, polyurethanes, polycarbonates and polyphenylene polymers. The utility as a contact germicide is disclosed. |
