PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the equipment cost and secure the necessary physical properties of a resin film in a method for producing a cellulose ester or norbornene resin film suitable as a protective film for a polarizing plate of a liquid crystal display device (LCD). In particular, even during storage of a wide roll film under high temperature and high humidity, occurrence of a failure during winding such as sticking is prevented. SOLUTION: The end of the base of a cellulose ester or norbornene resin film peeled off from a support in a solution casting method or a melt casting method is subjected to knurling to obtain a final film thickness of 30 to 125 μm. A resin film having a width direction thickness deviation of 1.8 μm or less and a squeeze value of 0.4 to 1.4 is produced. The knurling height measurement average value of 10 points in the longitudinal direction at least 10 mm or more apart of the resin film is 5 to 15 μm, the knurling height measurement minimum value is 1 μm or more, and the maximum value is 20 μm or less, and the knurling height The measured value deviation is set to 1 to 10 μm.
