A plasma display device in which deterioration of luminance of a phosphor layer is prevented is provided. A plurality of discharge cells of one color or a plurality of colors are arranged, and a phosphor layer (110B, 110R, 110G) of a color corresponding to each discharge cell is disposed, and the phosphor layer is excited by ultraviolet rays. The plasma display device includes a plasma display panel (100) for emitting light, wherein the phosphor layer includes a blue phosphor (110B), and the blue phosphor (110B) is selected from Mo and W It is composed of an alkaline earth metal aluminate phosphor containing at least one element. By adding hexavalent ions (Mo, W) to the blue phosphor, oxygen defects near the Ba atom-containing layer (Ba-O layer) are eliminated, and water adsorption on the surface of the blue phosphor is suppressed.
