abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a model animal for diabetes such as juvenile-onset adult type diabetes and permanent neonatal diabetes. The present invention provides a non-human mammal having a glucokinase gene having a base substitution of any one of (A) and (B) below. (A) Substitution of the first guanine of the intron immediately after exon 1A, the third cytosine from the 3 ′ side of the intron immediately before exon 3 and the second thymine of the intron immediately after exon 8 to the other thymine, (B) The amino acid sequence of the protein encoded by the glucokinase gene is 224th methionine as arginine, 220th cysteine as tyrosine, 182nd valine as methionine, 273th tyrosine and 345th arginine throughout Replace 228 with threonine, 419 with phenylalanine, leucine, 206 with threonine, and 127 with serine.
