abstract [PROBLEMS] To provide a flame retardant processing agent capable of imparting a flame retardant having excellent durability by post-processing to a polyester fiber product, and to make the polyester fiber product durable by using such a flame retardant processing agent. Provided is a flame retardant processing method capable of imparting excellent flame retardancy. According to the present invention, at least one phosphazene compound selected from the group consisting of cyclic phenoxyphosphazene and linear phenoxyphosphazene has a phenylene group or bis group interposed between oxygen atoms from which the phenyl group is eliminated. A cross-linked phosphazene compound formed by cross-linking with a cross-linking group comprising a phenylene group is converted into a distyrenated phenol ethylene oxide adduct, an alkali metal salt of bis (tristyrenated phenol ethylene oxide adduct) oxalate ester sulfonate, and a distyrenated phenol ethylene. There is provided a flame retardant processing agent for a polyester fiber product emulsified or dispersed in water in the presence of at least one surfactant selected from the group consisting of alkali metal salts of oxide adduct sulfonates.
