abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high-capacity recording and high-speed recording without increasing a write current of a magnetic head, large capacity, excellent overwrite characteristics, uniform characteristics, and particularly no problems such as cross-read and cross-write. The nanohole structure according to the present invention is formed by arranging nanohole arrays in which nanoholes are regularly arranged on a metal substrate at regular intervals. An embodiment in which the coefficient of variation of the interval between adjacent nanoholes is 10% or less is preferable. The magnetic recording medium of the present invention has a porous layer in which a plurality of nanoholes are formed in a direction substantially perpendicular to the substrate surface on a substrate, and has a magnetic material inside the nanoholes. The porous layer is the nanohole structure of the present invention. It is preferable that the nanohole has a soft magnetic layer and a ferromagnetic layer in this order from the substrate side, and the thickness of the ferromagnetic layer is equal to or less than the thickness of the soft magnetic layer.
